U.S. Concert Tour
(FEBRUARY 6, 2024) – The Divine Mercy Institute together with the Archdiocese of Vilnius proudly presents The Divine Mercy Choir from Vilnius (Lithuania) on tour for the first time across the USA.
The Divine Mercy Choir from Vilnius, Lithuania, will be on an expansive tour of the United States in anticipation of Divine Mercy Sunday, which falls on April 7, 2024. Concerts are scheduled in beautiful American churches between March 16 and April 7, 2024.
The 2-hour concert will feature a multimedia presentation explaining the improbable history and unique significance of the Original Image of Divine Mercy. Then, before a full-size, exact replica of the original masterpiece (40” wide x 84” tall), the Divine Mercy Choir gives a concert of the medieval sacred music that was flourishing in Eastern Europe during the days of Saint Faustina prior to the destruction that came with the Communist Occupation of Poland and Lithuania. The Divine Mercy Choir has been performing and preserving a vast repertoire of old hymns particular to Lithuania; music that has not been heard in almost a century. The Divine Mercy Choir was formed in the ancient city of Vilnius to provide liturgical music in the Shrine of Divine Mercy where the Original Image of Divine Mercy is venerated. Known for hundreds of years as The City of Mercy, Vilnius is where Saint Faustina lived during the mystical portion of her short life, where the original image was painted, and where she wrote her famous diary.
