Read MoreThe Original Image of Divine Mercy was painted in Vilnius, Lithuania in 1935 by Polish artist, Professor Eugeniusz Kazimirowski, under the very close direction of Saint Faustina Kowalska. The image depicts her mystical vision of Jesus Who Himself asked her to “paint an image according to the pattern you see.” Unable to paint, she solicited the help of her spiritual director, Fr. Michael Sopocko, who knew of the fine work of Kazimirowski. Together, the three went on a six-month artistic excursion that would change the world. Fr. Sopocko occasionally posed as Merciful Jesus while Faustina meticulously described the extraordinary details of her vision for Kazimirowski.
This site is dedicated to the promulgation of the Original Image of Divine Mercy (formerly known widely as The Vilnius Image) as the only accurately painted version of Saint Faustina's vision. The following writings and articles are intended to back up that claim, and shed light on the significance of Faustina's priceless masterpiece, The Original Image of Divine Mercy.
All Divine Mercy prints are exact replicas and include a certificate of authenticity as well as a number that corresponds to the exclusive license from the Archdiocese of Vilnius to replicate the Original Image from Vilnius.
